AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, SECTION 1-B(3), OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, RELATING TO
FIRE LANE MARKINGS, BY ADDING A SUBSECTION 602.6.8(d).
WHEREAS, the Fire Marshal has discovered that some complexes
in the City have painted their reserved parking spaces and other
areas red, causing confusion with the red fire lane markings;
WHEREAS, the Fire Marshall felt that it would be in the best
interest of the citizens if using the color red to mark or stripe
any curb or parking area (other than fire lanes) would be
prohibited within the City limits;
WHEREAS, on the 23rd day of August , 1990, the City
Council met and considered the problem concerning fire lane mark-
ings; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined the necessity to
amend Chapter 6, Section l-B(3) of the Code of Ordinances relat-
ing to fire lane markings by adding a subsection 602.6.8(d) pro-
hibiting using the color red to mark or stripe any curb or park-
ing area (other than fire lanes) within the city limits;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:

That Chapter 6, Section l-B(3) of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of College Station is hereby amended by adding a subsection
602.6.8(d) to read as follows:
"602.6.8 Fire Lane Markings
The use of the color red to mark or stripe any curb or
parking area (other than fire lanes) is prohibited
within the City of College Station."
II.
This ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage
in accordance with the City Charter of the City of College
Station.
