HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-1941 - Ordinance - 02/13/1992ORDINANCE NO. 1941 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10, SECTION 2F, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION RELATING TO SCHOOL ZONES, AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION. WHEREAS, the city Council met at its regular meeting on Febru- ary 13, 1992, and found that it would be in the best interest and safety of the citizens to amend Chapter 10, Section 2F, of the Code of Ordinances by designating a school zone on Welsh Street, with a maximum speed limit of 25 mph from 7=30 a.m. to 8:1§ a.m. and 3=00 p.m to 3=45 p.m., Monday through Friday, more particularly described as follows= Welsh Street North from Rock Prairie Road right-of-way line 920 feet to the elemen- tary school property line. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED EY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION THAT= That Chapter 10, Section 2F, of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended as follows= "F. SCHOOL ZONES The City hereby designates school zones on certain streets. A maximum speed limit designated in the Traffic Control Device Inventory - Schedule V (dated February 13, 1992) during the hours designated by this ordinance on regularly scheduled days is established within the desig- nated school zones except school zones on state highways where the maximum speed limit shall be determined by the State Department of Public Transportation. The desig- nated school zone speed limits and the hours regulating the time of day that each zone is in effect are described in Traffic Control Device Inventory - Schedule V (dated February 13, 1992) on file in the office of the City Sec- retary. A current schedule shall be maintained by the City Secretary at all times." Ordinance No. 1941 Page 2 II. The preservation of the general welfare of the public necessi- tates immediate action. This Ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of College Station. PASSED, ADOPTED and APPROVED this 13th day of February, 1992.
