AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS ORDERING A
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION ON
SATURDAY, MAY 7, 1994, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR, CITY COUNCILMAN,
PLACE 2, A CITY COUNCILMAN, 4, AND CITY COUNCILMAN PLACE 6 A SPECIAL
ELECTION WILL ALSO BE HELD ON MAY 7, 1994 FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING A CITY COUNCILMAN TO COMPLETE THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF
PLACE 1, DESIGNATING THE TIME, PLACE AND MANNER FOR HOLDING THE
ELECTION; APPOINTING JUDGES AND CLERKS THEREOF; AND, AUTHORIZING
THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN OFFICIAL ORDER OF ELECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS.
SECTIONI
A General Elect~on and a Special Election shall be and the same is hereby ordered to
be held on the first Saturday ~n May, 1994, the same being May 7, 1994, for the
purpose of electing a Mayor and three Councllmembers to two year terms for Places 2,
4, and 6 The special election will be held for the purpose of electing a councllmember
to Place 1 to fill the unexpired term unt,I the next general city council election in May,
1995
The elect~on shall be held under the prowsions of the laws of the State of Texas
governing general and special elect;ons, and only duly qualified voters who are
residents of the C~ty of College Stabon shall be allowed to vote in the election of
Councilmembers
Sa;d elect~on shall be held in conjunction with the College Station Independent School
D~str;ct Board of Trustees election, whereby an election precinct is to be served by a
common polling place and a presiding judge. The ~mplementation and management of
the elections shall be with the C~ty of College Station. A s~ngle ballot form at each
polhng place shall be used, prowded, however, that no voter shall be given a ballot
containing any office on which the voter is inehgible to vote
The polls shall be opened promptly at 7.00 a m. and shall be closed promptly at 7 00
pm
The Office of the City Secretary shall perform all duties w~th respect to early voting,
g~wng notice of the elect~on, and preparing the official ballots The C~ty Secretary shall
serve as the Early Voting Clerk The Election Coordinator for the College Station
Independent School D~stnct shall serve as Deputy Early Voting Clerk

The election shall be held at the following places and the election officials shall be, for
the purpose of this election, as follows
Pollln¢~ Place No. 8. at South Knoll Elementary School, 1220 Boswell, in said C~ty and
sa~d District, with Karen Tohkubbi as Presiding Judge and Helen Cluck as Alternate
Judge and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her
Po#ina Place No. 9. at College Station Conference Center, 1300 George Bush Dnve,
in said C~ty and said D~strict, w~th Marv Schmidt as Presiding Judge, and Marie Kelley
as Alternate Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to
assist her.
Pollinu Place No. '10, at College Station Municipal Courtroom, 2611 S. Texas Avenue,
with Ruby Freeman as Presiding Judge and ~lames Freeman as Alternate Judge; and
sa~d Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her
Polllnl:l Place No. 20. at Memorial Student Center, Room 145, consisting of County
and C~ty Voting Precincts No. 21 and No. 61, in sa~d C~ty and said D~strict, w~th
Meredith Reaves as Presiding Judge and Ryan Flvnn as Alternate Judge; and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her
Pollin¢~ Place No. 24. at College Hills Elementary School, 1101 Wilhams, consisting of
County Voting Precinct No. 75 in said City, with Cecil Parker as Presiding Judge and
Diana Kretchman as Alternate Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more
than 3 clerks to assist him.
Polling Place No. 28. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1200 Foxflre Drive, consisting of
County and City Voting Precinct No. 59 and No. 83, ~n sa~d C~ty and D~stnct, with
Betty Hodoes as Presiding Judge and Dixie Olden as Alternate Judge, and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her
Pollino Place No. 31. at A&M Consolidated H~gh School, FM 2818 and Welsh Avenue,
~n sa~d City and said District, w~th Vi Cook as Presiding Judge and Joy Howze as
Alternate Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist
her
Pollino Place No. 32. at First Baptist Church, 2300 Welsh, in said C~ty and said
D~stnct, with Kay Parker as Presiding Judge and Steve Parker as Alternate Judge, and
said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her
Po#ina Place No. 33. at L~ncoln Center, 1300 Eleanor, consisting of County and City
Voting Precinct No. 35, ~n sa~d C~ty and said District, w~th Bloesle Payton as

Pres,ding Judge and Celeetine Williams as Alternate Judge, and sa~d Presid,ng Judge
shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her
Pollina Place No. 34, at City Hall, 1101 South Texas Avenue, in sa,d City and sa,d
District, w,th ChaHotte Be stad as Presiding Judge and ~ as Alternate
Judge, and said Pras,ding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her
Polllna Place No. 39, at Rock Prairie Elementary School, 3400 Welsh, ,n said City and
said Distr~ct with Larry Wells as Prasid,ng Judge and Brenda Watson as Alternate
Judge, and said Pres,ding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist him
Polling Place No. 40, at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 6501 East Bypass, cons,st, ng
of County and City Voting Precincts No. 58, 71, and 73, in sa,d C~ty and sa~d D,strict,
with Glenda Baker as Pres,ding Judge and Kay Jackson as Alternate Judge, and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to ass,st her
All election officials shall be compensated at a rate of $6.00 per hour for their services
on elect,on day.
SECTION II
Early voting shall be conducted by personal appearance and by mail Early voting by
personal appearance shall be held ~n the Training Room at City Hall, 1001 South Texas
Avenue, College Stahon, Texas, early voting by mail shall end April 29, 1994. Dunng
the per,od early voting is required or permitted by law, being April 18, 1994 through
May 3, 1994, the hours designated for early voting by personal appearance shall be
from 8'00 a m to 5.00 p.m. The Early Voting Clerk for said election shall be the C~ty
Secretary. She shall appo,nt city employees to serve as deputy voting clerks to assist
her at the poll,ng place The Election Coordinator for the College Station Independent
School District shall also serve as Deputy Early Voting Clerk in said elect,on
The following persons are hereby appo,nted as the Early Ballot Board to count the
early ballots.
Presiding Judge E.E Burns, Alternate Judge Anton Bockholt, and clerks to be
named by presiding judge.
SECTION III
Punch card voting machines shall be used for voting at the foregoing elect,on prac, ncts
and electromc counting devices and equ,pment shall be used for counting the ballots
for said election.

SECTION IV
The Training Room ,n the College Station C~ty Hall, is hereby established as Central
Counting Station to receive ballots for sa~d elect,on, the ballots to be tabulated and
returned to the office of the City Secretary to be secured during the record preservat,on
period
The following persons are hereby authorized and approved as persons employed and
designated to handle the ballots, operate the tabulating equipment, and count the
ballots

The following officials and other designated persons are hereby authorized to be
present at Central Counting Stabon to observe the election counting process.
Mayor and members of the College Station C,ty Counc, I
The Board of Trustees of the College Station School D~strict
The C~ty Secretary and designated members of the staff.
The City Manager of the C~ty of College Station
The Superintendent of Schools and designated members of staff
The County Judge and members of the Comm,ssioners Court of Brazos County
The Attorney General of the State of Texas or h,s authonzed representative
The County Clerk of Brazos County
SECTION V
A committee is hereby estabhshed consisting of the following persons to hold computer
accuracy tests, ~ncluding two tests prior to the elect~on and one test ,mmediataly after
the count of the voted ballots, to ascertain that the computer will accurately count the
votes cast for the said elecbons'

SECTION VI
The Mayor of the C~ty of College Station ~s hereby authonzed to sign an official ORDER
OF GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, as
prescribed by the Texas Election Code, said ORDER OF ELECTION FOR THE CITY
OF COLLEGE STATION to be attached hereto and recorded as part of th~s Ordinance
The Mayor of the City of College Station is hereby authorized to sign an official
NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION AND SPECIAL ELECTION as set forth in a form
prescribed by the Secretary of State and the Texas Elect~on Code, a copy of the
NOTICE OF GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION, when published in a newspaper of
general circulation in the City of College Station, shall serve as proper notice of the
elections ordered by this Ordinance
