This is WTAW, the First 100 Years, I'm Tom Turbiville. Many a young journalist has gotten their
start at WTAW, whether as a board operator or an on -air intern or someone that we just thought
had the chops to do it, such as Chelsea Reber, our associate news director, a Bryan High grad and
athlete. She recognizes that she's had the opportunity to work at a historical radio station, and she
likes to spread the word.

Especially turning 100 years old this year, it's really gotten those gears turning even more so in
my mind about how special this is, and, you know, when I got the job here, I just thought, “okay,
cool. I needed a job. This is great. This works out”. And with every year that passes, and I get to
do more and more and become more involved, it does. It kind of hits me to think of how special
this is, and I love getting to tell people, “Do you know what WTAW stands for?”, and “Do you
know why the W is the start of our call letters, but not every other call letter, you know, in
Texas”? And so, getting to share that information with people and to be part of that, I mean,
yeah, it's a huge, huge moment of pride when I get to talk to people about being a part of WTAW
and being a part of the history, and that's why I've loved this series so much because I'm learning
things I had no idea about, and I w-- work here. And so, to be part of that is truly special.

Well, Chelsea Reber is right. Just researching for this series, and I have learned a whole lot that I
would have never, ever known about WTAW, the First 100 Years.
