Mike McKinney
Mike McKinney is Vice President of Economic Development of Oncor, with responsibility
for leading the energy delivery company’s economic development efforts. McKinney is
responsible for business recruitment, retention and expansion and community development
programs.
McKinney joined the TXU (formerly Texas Utilities Company) system in 1969 after
completing his Bachelor of Arts in Business degree at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
McKinney has held numerous management positions including his service as the Manager of
the Grapevine and Waxahachie District; Manager of Public/Community Affairs in Dallas;
and as the Northern Region Customer Service Manager. He also served eighteen months in
the Public Policy Group.
McKinney has served on the Boards of the City of Dallas Economic Development Planning
Committee, the Greater Dallas Planning Council, the American Heart Association, the North
Texas Commission, as well as numerous area Chambers of Commerce. McKinney was also
Vice-President of the African-American Museum of Dallas.
Currently, McKinney is a member of the Dallas Assembly, UEDA (Utility Economic
Development Association), CoreNet Global, Greater Dallas Chamber, where he serves on the
International Trade Mission Committee and the North Texas Commission, where he serves
on the Science and Technology Committee. He serves on the Boards of Central Dallas
Association, TAB (Texas Association of Business), Greater Dallas Planning Council, Dallas
Zoological Society and TEDC (Texas Economic Development Council).
Mike and his wife of thirty-four years, Judy, reside in Plano, Texas. They have two adult
children, Beth Ann, a teacher and graduate of TWU and Britt, a graduate of Abilene
Christian University and currently an employee of Bridgespan Title Company in Frisco.
Mike and his family are members of Waterview Church of Christ in Richardson.
