Sponsors: Kelsey Heiden Question: The naming includes the words "senior fields". Will these two fields always be specifically used as "senior league" fields? Response: The term 'Senior League' field refers to fields 5 and 6, which are sized for older age groups based on Little League standards, distinguishing them from the smaller 'Little League' fields (fields 1-4) designed for younger players. These will continue to be designated as Senior League fields and referenced individually as fields 5 and 6 for tournaments and gameplay. Item 8.1: Recreation Center Feasibilitv Studv Phase 2 Update Sponsors: Kelsey Heiden Question: Do we have an update on the activities of the Rec Center Steering Committee since it was appointed? What meetings did they have and input into the work of the consultant? Do they have any recommendations to staff and the Council? Did the final draft from the consultant reflect any input from the Steering committee? Response: The Recreation Center Steering committee is an 11-member steering committee that represents diverse community stakeholders: • (2) Parks & Recreation Advisory Board: Kevin Bishop, Kim Topp • (4) Community At -Large: Dr. John Crompton, Leah Hood, Tre Watson, Dennis Corrington • (1) Senior Advisory Group: Kathy Tenczynski (1) Representative from Baylor Scott and White: Blake Barnes, Regional Chief Operating Officer • (1) Texas A&M Student Recreation Center: Oscee Wheatfall, III, Associate Director Recreational Sports • (2) CSISD: Rickey Meza, Community Education Coordinator; Megan Symank, Assistant Athletic Director The committee convened once on July 10, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 PM with city staff and our consultant team. We reviewed the completed Phase 1 Recreation Center Feasibility Study, covering the market analysis, statistically valid survey results, and comprehensive engagement findings. The committee discussed the initial space programming and reviewed facility terminology. There was consensus that the proposed space aligns well with the community engagement findings and identified needs. The committee focused on two operational recommendations that were incorporated into the final draft cost pro -forma, including facility hours of operation and overall cost recovery methodology, including proposed user fee structures. City Council's decision regarding project continuation will determine the Recreation Center Steering Committee's future role. Should City Council decide to move forward, the committee will provide ongoing feedback on site selection, final space programming, and facility service offerings. If Council decides not to proceed, the committee will dissolve as planned.
