A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE 2011 HOMELAND SECURITY ASSISTANCE TO
FIREFIGHTERS GRANT AWARD; AUTHORIZING THE CITY FIRE CHIEF OR HIS
DESIGNEE TO SERVE AS A GRANT MANAGER FOR THE CITY; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security, a Department of the U.S. Government, has
awarded the City of College Station a 2011 Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security has served the City of College Station with a
Notice of Award for the 2011 Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program in
the amount of $210,168 to be used in this performance period ending January 26, 2013; and
WHEREAS, the intent of this grant is to improve the alerting capability in the fire stations to aid
in the City's ability to enhance its capacity to prevent, respond to, and recover from fires, acts of
terrorism, and natural disasters; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS:
PART 1: That the facts and recitations set forth in the preamble of this resolution are
hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by
reference herein and expressly made a part hereof.
PART 2: That the City Council hereby accepts the award to the City of the Homeland
Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant for the 2011 Grant Program in the
amount of $210,168 from the Department of Homeland Security.
PART 3: That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Fire Chief or his designee to
serve as the Grant Manager for the City to track and manage this Homeland
Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant award.
PART 4: That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
