A Wolf Pen Creek Design Review Board meeting was held on Wednesday, August
22, 2001 to review the above- mentioned signage proposal. Ms. Jimmerson stated that the
applicant is requesting to paint the awnings and paint signage on awnings. Ms Jimmerson
stated the colors proposed navy and tan will coordinate better with the building, but the board
has discretion over what colors would be allowed. Also, the freestanding sign is non-
conforming.
DRB Member Holt questioned that with keeping the freestanding sign the maroon
color then adding the tan and blue color, if that will take away from the conformity of it with
the building. Ms. Jimmerson stated the signs on top of building are grandfathered unless he
touches them and takes them down. Commissioner Trapani moved to approve. Commissioner
McMath seconded.
Commissioner Floyd stated that there is too much signage at three different levels.
Commissioner McMath would approve new lettering if the signs above the building were not
there. DRB Member Holt stated the request is an improvement but at the same time it is adding
too much signage. Commissioner Floyd asked Ms. Jimmerson if the applicant could amend
their application. Ms. Jimmerson stated she would need to check how the meeting was posted.
DRB Member Holt asked if denied, could the Board make a recommendation. Ms
Jimmerson stated she believe they could, but she will need to get with the City's legal counsel to
find out if the applicant has to come back to DRB with a new application or if they can change
their application on the way to the P &Z Commission.
DRB Member McLean stated the signage proposed is a better signage, in some ways
but it has gotten too cluttered. Commissioner McMath asked if they some of the signs were
taken away, they could approve. Commissioner Trapani and Commissioner McMath both
withdraw the motion to approve.
Commissioner Trapani moved to deny based on the fact that at this time there is a
tremendous amount of signage at various levels that needs to be cleaned up. DRB Member
Holt seconded. Commissioner Floyd asked staff to get in contact with legal and relay the
information to the applicant. If legally feasible, it could move forward to the regular P &Z
Commission Meeting. The motioned for denial passed 5 -0.
