HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/07/1971 - Special Minutes - City Council MINUTES CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS April 7, 1971 5:15 P.M. Members Present: Mayor D. A. Anderson; Councilmen Dan R. Davis, Bill J. Cooley, James H. Dozier, Joseph J. McGraw, C. H. Ransdell, and Cecil B. Ryan; City Manager Ran Boswell; Assistant City Secretary Florence Neelley; and City Planner George Eby. The City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, convened in special session at the regular meeting place thereof in the City Hall, within said City, on the 7th day of April, 1971 with the following members present, to-wit: D. A. Anderson, Mayor Bill J. Cooley, Councilman Dr. Cecil B. Ryan, Councilman Joseph J. McGraw, Councilman Dr. C. H. Ransdell, Councilman James H. Dozier, Councilman Dan R. Davis, Councilman and the following members absent, to-wit: none, when, among other business, the following was transacted, to-wit: The Mayor introduced an ordinance which was read in full. Councilman Davis moved that the ordinance be adopted as read. Councilman McGraw seconded the motion for adoption of said ordinance. The motion, carrying with it the adoption of the ordinance, prevailed by the following vote: AYES: all present; NOES: none. The Mayor thereupon announced that the motion had duly and lawfully carried and that the Ordinance No. 734 had been duly and lawfully adopted. Councilman Ransdell introduced a Resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ryan, and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the Resolution and order prevailed by the following vote: AYES: all present; NOES: none. The Resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 6th day of April, 1971 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 1,173 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: FOR COUNCILMAN, PLACE I Fred R. Boyett 3 Page 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that Fred R. Brison, Don Dale and R. Do Radeleff were duly elected Councilmen of said City at said election, and that said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths as provided by the laws of the State of Texas. Mayor Anderson administered the Oath of Office to Fred R. Brison, Don Dale, and R. D. Radeleff. The meeting adjourned, subject to call. ATTEST: ci _� Assistant City Secreta APPROVED: / D. A.
