HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-26-56-Resol - Resolution - 03/26/1956REGUI~ CITY C OUNC IL ~EET ING ~rch 26, 1956 The City Coun~cii met in regular session at 7:00 p.m., ~rch 26, 1956 with the following present: ~-~yor Pro-Tem Orr; Councilmen Boyett, Seeger and Pugh; and City ~nager Boswell. Visitors present were Wayne Stark, Howard Mitchell and Welton Jones. City Secr¢~tary ~IcGinnis being absent, the ~yor Pro-Tern asked the City ;.~nager to keep the minutes of this meeting. Councilman Pugh made a motion, seconded by Councilmen Seeger, that City ~'~nager Boswell be ~ppointed to represent the city on the College Station Youth F~cilities Council. The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion. Councilman Pugh made s motion, seconded by Councilm~n Boyett, that the city pay the utility bills at the Little League Ball Perk during S~am~e~. months. The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor 'of the' motion. Councilm~n Pugh made a motion, seconded by Councilman Boyett, that 0rdin~nce No. 225, an Ordianance incorporating certain territories into the limits of the city be passed after complying with Article II, Section 7, of the city charter. The vote o~ the Council was unanimous in f~vor of the motion. Barger. ~S'JLUT ION The City Council records with deepest sympathy -the death of J. Wheeler Bsrger on March 6, ]-956. ";r. Barger's interests were many. He was public minded, a loyal supporter of every cause for community improve.ment. He was particularly active in the affairs of the city. A wise and sagacious counselor, as City Attorney he gave unstintedly of his t~ne and talents in ~lrecting the ~ity of ~o~l~ge Station towards a sound and economic program ,of municipal endeavors and activities. Adopted by the City Council /{arch 26, 1956, and directed that a copy of this Resolution be included in the minutes of this meeting and a copy when signed by the ,~'isyor and City Secretary be sent to t.~s. Barger. City f~nager Boswell presented, a request from Ed Garner to move his present building east thirty feet, during the construction of a new building on the present site. Councilman Pugh made a motion, seconded by Councilman Seeger, that the request be granted and 'that the City Attorney prepare an agreement between the .City of College Station and M~. Garner in which Mm. Garner agrees to move the old building from its temporary location within sixty days after completion of the new building, and if the building has not been moved within the said sixty days it becomes the property of the City.
