HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/16/1955 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilCITY COUNCIL SETING May 16, 1955 The City Council met in a regular session at 7:00 p.m. with the follow- ing present: Mayor Longford; Councilmen Black, Boyett, Orr, Pugh, Seeger, and Sorrels; City attorney Barger; City Manager Boswell. and City Secretary McGinnis. Messrs. Carl W. Landiss and C. G. White were visitors. Councilman Pugh made a motion, seconded by Councilman Orr, that Ordi- nance No. 212, an Ordinance regulating the operations of itinerant vendors within the city and repealing Ordinance No. 102 and parts of all other ordi- nances inconsistent therewith, be adopted. The vote of the Council was in favor of the motion except that Council- man Boyett refrained from voting. Councilman Orr made a motion, seconded by Councilman Sorrels that the city approve Minute Order No. 38023 of the Texas Highway Department relative to the widening of Highway No. 6 through the city limits. The vote of the Council was unanimous in .favor of the motion. Mayor Langford was instructed to answer the proposal made by Mr. C. C. Cox relative to a city-wide survey of utility lines and services. Messrs. Landiss and White appeared before the Council and .requested that the city make stronger efforts towards mosquito control. Mayor Langford appointed Councilman Sorrels as the Chairman of a. Comm- ittee composed of Messrs. Sorrels, L. E. Winder, Sr. and J. C. Gaines to consider what the city can do towards mosquito control. The Council set 1:15 p.m., June 2, as the time of a special meeting to consider the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 1955 - June 30, 1.956. ATTEST: City Secretary APPROVED: /�L 4 /.O� . Mayor
