HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/13/1953 - Special Minutes - City CouncilORDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS CITY OF COLLEGE STATION On this the l3th day of April, 1953, the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, convened in special session at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyett, Sorrels, Badgett, and Pugh; and City Secretary McGinnis, and the following absent: H. L. Boyer., constituting a quorum, and among other proceedings had were the following: Councilman Padgett introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Pugh, and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the follovring vote-.,, Ayes: All Present; Noes, Norio .4 The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 7th day of 'April, 1953, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 203 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: J. A. Orr, 110; Ernest Seeger, J7; G. 11. Black, 4.0; Harry L. Boyer, 31; Mrs. Armstrong Price, 2; Lloyd D. Smith, 2; and W. H. Badgett, 1. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CULLEGE STATION, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that J. A. Orr, Ward I; G. W. Black, Ward II; and Ernest Seeger, Ward III; were duly elected Councilmen of said City at said election, and said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths A;R9 94�4;qff be344 as provided by the laws of the State _ 7 77 - of Texas.
