"In 20 years, I've never seen a case like this one," Police Sgt. Daniel Hill said Tuesday. "We're hoping the judge ...will be able to straighten this out." The husband, Earl Patterson, 33, was released Tuesday night on $2,500 bail after being charged with kidnaping, felonious restraint, aggravated and simple assault, terroristic threatening and possession of offensive weapons. Carl Butler, 34, was held in lieu of $5,000 bond on charges of rape, robbery, theft, assault and indecent assault, police said. The men will appear together next Wednesday before Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas Shiomos. Patterson's wife, Maxim, 35, was robbed and raped in her driveway last January. She reported the attack to police, but they failed to solve the case.
