City of College Station HPC Education Committee
Goal : Have the dedication of the Native American Interpretive Area in
Veterans Park as part of the 75 Anniversary of the city of College Station
October 18, 2013.
The interpretive area will be located next to the America's Pavilion on ground
actually inhabited by Native American's as long as 10,000 years ago.
The interpretive signs and displays will educated the observer in the life of the
Native American's who inhabited the grounds, including but not limited to living
quarters, hunting methods and game, food preparation(including a working
stone oven actually used in that area), a statue depicting the appearance of a
Native American of that era. A ceremonial Fire Pit that could be used for
special occasions.
The four year plan:
Year one: Alston Thoms helps us come up with proposal to the City of CS to
fund the development of a "Plan"
Year two: Present Plan to City Council for approval. Contact vendors for bids on
concrete, interpretive signs, stone oven and fire pit.
Year three: Start construction site work.
Year four: Complete construction and dedicate on Oct 18 2043.
