The Eagle is organizing a celebration of it's 100th year
of publishing in the Brazos Valley and we would like to
invite your group to consider having a booth at our
Saturday, May 6, free festival in Central Park.
You may pass out information, give demonstrations, recruit
new members or sell items if you like: crafts, food, drinks.
Booths can be set up at 7 a.m.; the area opens officially
at 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. that evening when we move to down-
town Bryan for a street dance.
Booth space is free to groups in the Eagle Circulation area,
consequently we must have your reservation in early so we
can save you a space.
We will be scheduling music groups and entertainers, plus
a 5K run and an afternoon children's parade to draw the W
public. Our theme "Everything Old is News Again" may
help you decide your booth's approach. P /

RE: Eagle Celebration "Everything Old is News Again"
I have been contacted by Jody Bates at the Eagle regarding a festival
they will hold to celebrate the Eagle's 100th birthday in Central Park
on Saturday, May 6.
They are inviting groups who wish to set up a booth, free of charge,
for demonstrations, literature, recruiting, etc. to call and reserve
booth space.
I have enclosed her original letter and schedule of events. If your
department is interested, contact Jody at the Eagle.
If you need assistance with planning a booth, I will be glad to help if
you want.

Dear Steve,
The Eagle has reserved Central Park for May 6 to celebrate its
100th year of publishing. This festival has repidly grown to include
civic groups and other organizations.
Consequently, would it be possible to apply for a "blanket"
vendor's permit to cover everyone? (So far, about 30 groups, although
most of them are just handing out literature or providing educational
demonstrations.)
The Breakfast Lions Club will be selling beer & wine, and they
are making arrangements for the license and security officers.
We will arrange for extra portapotties as well, and contact the
nearby church about using their lot for overflow parking. 1 will be
working with Linda & Sheila on placement of all groups, and the
Eagles "nest" -- a striped tent for entertainment, plus mapping
out electricity, etc.
We appreciate the help your staff has given us, and look forward
to a successful celebration.
Sincerely,
a : i - 1

Dear Jody,
We will grant a "blanket" vendors permit for all booths that
are actually selling merchandise. Any booth that is selling
food or drink will be required to comply with all related
health codes and regulations. Also, the Breakfast Lions
Club must closely coordinate with the Texas Alcoholic
Beverage Commission and provide liscensed peace officers as
security guards during the event.
All booth locations must be coordinated with Sheila Walker
prior to the event. We are especially concerned with
vehicles driving off the paved areas. Also, safety of park
patrons is another concern of our staff. The availability
of electric outlets is very limited and extreme care must be
taken in the use of extension cords.
Please provide us the name of the person who will be in
charge during the actual event. Our staff will work
directly with them to resolve problems that may occur.
Also, this person will serve as the contact for check -in and
check -out of the facilities. The picnic shelter and
surrounding grounds will need to be cleaned prior to leaving
the park.
We wish you success in this endeavor. Please stay in touch
with us as your plans are finalized.
