DESCRIPTION OF PLANTS
1. Antique Rose - Non- hybrid varities found in old homesteads, cemeteries, etc. - More tolerant of drought disease
problems, more fragrance than hybrids.
- blooms red, ink
2. Autumn Sage (Salvia greggi) 18 -24" HT. native shrub bloo s ed. p , white or salmon. Do best in well drained
location with plenty of light.
3. Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) - large, deciduous oak reaches over 100' HT. Very large acorn.
4. Cedar Elm (Ulmus C.rassifolia) - Deciduous shade tree up to 90' - drought resistant - yellow fall Dolor, dark green
dense foliage.
5. Compact Texas Sage (Leucophyllum frutescens Compacta) - drought tolerant - Blooms lavender after rains. 4 -5' HT.
6. Chinese Pistache - Pistachio Chinensis - Deciduous tree to 50' - leaves turn deep orange to crimson in fall. Drought
tolerent.
7. Coreop'is - Golden Wave - yellow blooming perennial wildflower - _leaves stay on if ten eratIr is above 10 °.
8. Cottage Garden Pinks - Dianthus - perennial - blooms June - October. Gray green foliage, full sun, good drainage.
9. Crab Apple - Malus Species) - Deciduous flowering trees - pink, red, or white flowers - blooms in Spring will tolerate
acid or alkaline soil.
10. Fountain Grass - Pennisetum setaceum - perennial grass - 4' HT - any soil, full sun, pest free, drought resistant.

appreciate light shade in the afternoon.
13. Lantana - Lantana horrida -3 -4' HT deciduous shrub flowers from spring till cold weather in the fall. Yellow and orange,
good for hot, dry, sunny areas.
14. Live Oak - Quercus virginiana - Large evergreen - wide spreading oak. Beautiful speciman tree may reach 75' HT.
15. Mexican Plum - Prunus mexicana -small deciduous tree to 25' - masses of white flowers in early spring - p_.rpiish red
fruit in summer.
16. Red Bud - Cercis canadensis - small flowering tree to 25' - rosy pink flowers in early spring deciduous.
17. Rosemary - R smarinus officinalis- evergreen shrub herb. - small lavendar blue flowers in spring - 2' HT. Hot sun,
poor soil, good drainage.
18. Texas Mountain Laurel - Sophora secundiflora- Evergreen shrub or tree - fragrant, violet -blue flowers in early spring
good drainage a must, up to 25' HT.
19. Thundercloud Texas Sage - Leucophyllum frutescens "Thundercloud ". Dwarf evergreen shrub to 4' lavendar flowers sun and
good drainage (A Texas A&M release)
20. Wax Myrtle - Myrica cerifera - evergreen large shrub to 20' - glossy, gray green aromatic foliage sin to partial shade
sandy soil.
21. Western Soapberry - Sapindus drummondi - deciduous tree - in sandy soil yellow fruit in fall, up to 50'HT.
22. Yaupon - Ilex vomitoria - evergreen shrub /tree - red berries sun to shade - alkaline soils 15 -20' HT.
