HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983 Petition regarding Welsh, Angus and Holleman concerns ,. RECEIVE© APR 2 6 1983 TO THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION The following owners of land and /or residences contiguous to • the present Welsh Avenue from Holleman to Angus and those between the new Jersey Street and the face of Welsh Avenue on Angus Street or its proposed extension, present this petition to the City of College Station: A.) In the complete alternative to the problems that will be fostered unfairly upon the property owners contiguous to Welsh Avenue under the pro - a posed widening of Welsh Avenue to a full four lane street between Holleman and new Jersey Street, it is requested that the city re- assess the need, the utility, the desirability and the • ultimate cost of opening Welsh Avenue as a full four lane street between Holleman and new Jersey Street and instead consider the more appropriate and less costly project of opening both Dexter Street and Welsh Avenue as two lane streets for a full four lanes of traffic flow between Southwest Parkway and new Jersey Street with no changes in the zoning of the property contiguous to either street. B.) In the absence of such action, it is petitioned a that each owner or owners of such property shall have the following options relative to any mod- ifications and extension of Welsh Avenue from Holleman to new Jersey Street where this street is widened to a four lane street: 1.) The owner or owners shall retain their l property in current form unless condemned by the city. t Any property required for such expansion a shall require the city to condemn the residential buildings thereon facing Welsh Avenue in its altered form, and to compen- t sate the owner or owners thereof. 2.) In the alternative thereto, the city shall • rezone any property facing on Welsh Avenue in its four lane altered form to limited commercial use property between Holleman and new Jersey Street at the option of the owner or owners thereof. 1 1 1 1 ' Respectfully submitted this day of t 1983 as petitioners.
