City of College Station Government: The City of College Station was incorporated in 1938. It is a home -rule city and operates under the Council- Manager form of government. The Mayor and six Council Members are elected at- large by place, in city -wide elections; terms of office run for two years. Ron Silvia Mayor Tom Brymer City Manager Meetings: The City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday at 7 pm in the College Sta- tion City Hall. Council meetings are open to the public & are broadcast live on channel 19. We are pleased to provide this 2003 Parks & Recreation calendar as means to inform the public about the many exciting services that are offered throughout the year. As an added convenience, the calendar also includes activities and information for programs and events offered by other local agencies that may be of interest to you and your family. Please use the calendar throughout the year to assist in scheduling your leisure activities and contact us if additional information is required. Our staff is proud to work for this fine community and we are very grateful for the strong public support that the citizens of College Station provide. A linear open space established along either a natural corridor, such as a riverfront, strearn valley, or ridgeline, or overland along a Railroad right -of -way converted to recreational use, a canal, a scenic road, or other route. 2. Any natural or landscaped course for pedestrian or bicycle passage. 3. An open -space connector linking parks, nature reserves, cultural features, or historic sites with each other and with populated areas 4. Locally, certain strip or linear parks designated as a parkway or greenbelt. Greenways for America, Charles E. Little 1� L a Urban Greenways The primary functions are to provide for flood control, recreation, transportation, economic and aesthetic purposes. Examples of urban greenways are the main channels of Wolf Pen Creek and Bee Creek from Texas Avenue to SH 6 East ByPass. RECREATION DIVISION: This division's responsibilities include providing first -class athletic programs for all ages, hosting local, state and national sporting events, managing the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater and providing concerts and special events for the community, running the Kids Klub after - school program for children K -6th (in conjunction with the College Station Independent School District), and providing educational, fun, activities and special events for citizens 55 and older through the Senior Services Program. His performance always exceeds expectations. He truly is dependable, professional, innovative, and a team player. For the first time, Scott was the recipient of the City of College Station's 'Employee of the Year' award in October 2002. He was presented with the Eagle Award, which consists of a trophy and a $500 check.
