Mayor Lynn Mctlhaney was elected as the first woman mayor in College Station. The College Station Business Center was completed. Sandstone Park, the second handicap accessible park was dedicated. Pebble Creek Park, the third handicap accessible Park in College Station was completed. Wolf Pen Creek Youth Theater was established. The first College Station Teen Advisory Board was formed. The Olympic Torch passed through College Station. First Annual Holiday on the Brazos took off. Southwood Swimming Pool was renamed to "Cindy Hallaran" Swimming Pool.
