Anne Boykin, Heritage Programs Coordinator Visitors: N/A Agenda Item #1: Call to Order Meeting was called to order by Susan Irza, at 4:05 p.m. Agenda Item #2-3: Hear Visitors: N/A Agenda
Item #4: Possible action and discussion on absence requests. N/A Agenda Item #5: Possible action and discussion to approve meeting minutes of regular meeting of February 7, 2011. Minutes
were approved. (LH/jm) Agenda Item #6: Report from Shop & Music Building (The Annex) community committee. Linda Harvell, acting as a private citizen and not representing the HPC, brought
the HPC members up to date on a citizen action group who will be addressing this issue. The community committee feels that the council is unaware of the building history. They feel that
lots of education is needed. Hillary suggested that the community committee contact Bud Rudder. Agenda Item #7: Report from HPC Chairperson. Susan discussed the new sub-committee assignments
and projects for this year. A sponsorship liaison is needed for the Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series. �
� the March 10 council meeting. The committee discussed the possibility of a time capsule for the 75th anniversary. Susan has asked Libby Vastano
to work on an educational packet for the Lynn Stuart Pathway.
Agenda Item #8: Report from Heritage Programs Coordinator. See attached Heritage Programs Progress Report. Agenda Item #9: Possible action and discussion on Preservation Excellence Awards.
Susan suggested that the committee consider a new level of recognition in the form of a certificate that would recognize citizens who have made exemplary efforts to preserve the history
of the area or
Fabric & Beauty Shop, Hullabaloo Diner, Knox Gallery, The Tap. Anne will work on the design and wording of the certificate. Agenda Item #9: Report on 75th Anniversary plans. Linda Harvell
reported that the 75th Anniversary Planning Committee will be concentrating on a main event with a year of smaller prior recognition opportunities. The logo has been approved and a mission
statement has been created. The next meeting will be Friday, April 8, 11:00 a.m. at the CS Conference Center. Agenda Item #10: Committee Reports: Hot Rocks Cook Off/Native American
Interpretive Path Ernie Wright, Lou Hodges, Morgan Hester (HP Intern); A preliminary planning meeting was held February 17 with David Gerling, Dr. Alston Thoms and Anne
18-19 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex. More participation is expected from students at Texas A&M University, Baylor University,
and Texas State University. Dr. Thoms is awaiting word on additional participation from University of Texas. Federal funding is available to bring the federally recognized tribal representatives
to the event. Additional sponsorship (+/-$3,000 total) is needed to bring the tribal representatives from smaller tribes. At least five tribal representatives are expected to participate.
Historic Marker Program Meredith Waller, Alison Clary (HP Intern) The marker presentation was moved again to the March 10 City Council meeting at 7:00 p.m. �
�Fabric & Beauty Shop. Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series Susan Irza, Anne Boykin, Marci Rodgers Lectures are doing very well this year. Attendance
is up and kudos abound. Sponsorship Liaison & Exploring History Hosts James McGinnis, Hillary Jessup A sponsor is still needed for the July lecture. The majority of the other
lectures are sponsored by health care organizations. Oral History Transcription Project Lou Hodges Lou continues to work on this tedious project as time allows. Landmark Commission
(Liaison) Susan Irza As HPC liaison to the Landmark Commission, Susan feels that the committee has hit a standstill in promoting an historic district overlay for Oakwood neighborhood.
75th Anniversary Planning Committee Linda Harvel (chair), Patricia Cleere, Jerry Cooper, Susan Irza; See Agenda Item #9. College Station Timeline & College Station History Book
Advisor Jerry Cooper, Morgan Hester (PH Intern); Jerry continues to work on compiling a comprehensive listing of city elections, candidates, election tallies, terms served, resignations
and deaths. The list will become an index in the 75th Anniversary history book. Morgan is assisting in compiling a city history timeline. College Station Oral History Interviews &
Educational Initiatives Libby Vastano, Susan Irza; Anne will coordinate scheduling further oral history interviews with Mark
Beal and Libby. Libby will continue the mayor and council interviews begun by Susan and will expand to include vital community members and city employees. �
� Anne Boykin, James McGinnis, Vicky Eastes (HP Volunteer); James will be researching the geographic coordinates of the
historical sites, archives and facilities. Vicky is working on editing and adding to the list compiled by Anne. Heritage Programs Acquisitions Tina Hanna (HP Volunteer); Tina is
continuing to work on processing and scanning the city and university documents of Mayor Andy Anderson. Morgan is preparing the documents and making notes for use by Glenn Davis for
the 75th anniversary history book. Agenda Item #11: Calendar Events -March 2, 2011 175th Anniversary of Texas Independence March 6, 2011 Armadillo Dash, 6:30 a.m., Veterans Park (Beginning
