HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-2025 Exploring History Luncheon Speaker Log Historic Preservation committee’s exPloring History luncHeon sPeakers (2003 – Present) Initfal 2024 project completed by Carla Elliott, HPC member. 2 Background Informatfon In October 2024, the Historic Preservatfon Committee launched a project to consolidate all past Exploring History Luncheon (EHL) informatfon into one, easy-to-use locatfon/document. The goal is to assist luncheon planners in their task of identffying topics and speakers for future luncheons. To that end, programs from the last 21 years (2003 – 2025) have all been located and organized into one comprehensive document. The document, a Word file tftled, “Exploring History Luncheons Speaker Log,” is located on the flash drive in the pocket at the front of the red binder. The file was printed and placed in the binder for easy access. To maintain a comprehensive list of speakers for future EHLs, please do these two things: 1. Open the Word document on the flash drive and add the luncheon speakers for each year, and 2. Place a printout of each new year in chronological order in this red binder. The following were sources for luncheon data for years 2003 - 2024: • 2003 – 2012: Sherry Frisk (HPC member) provided the link below for speaker entries: https://opendoc.cstx.gov/WeblinkPublic/Browse.aspx?id=504906&dbid=0&repo=DOCUMENT-SERVER • 2013 – 2020: Tom Turbiville (HPC member) provided speaker data. Tom indicated that he pulled these years from archived copies of The Eagle (BCS newspaper) that he obtained through the Larry Ringer Library. • 2021 and 2022 speaker data was located using the city’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@CityOfCollegeStatfon. Once on this page, search for “Exploring History.” • 2023 and 2024 speaker data was provided by Luis Perez (Parks and Rec Dept). • Videos of luncheons were also found on the city’s YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/cityofcollegestatfon. Once on this page I searched, “Exploring History.” • I was able to locate many of the videotaped luncheons here as well: https://brazoslife.com/learn- about-college-statfons-fascinatfng-history-through-our-monthly-lectures/.
