The sheriff received 2,082 votes to challenger Kenneth Allen's 10M votes. In County Commissioner Precinct One, W. J. Gressett Jr. won receiving 493 votes to Sam A. Robertson's 196 votes and J. P. Brown's 147. In the Constable Precinct Five, Willie Estes won with 117 votes to John Silcox's 56 votes. In thei2th District Attorney Race, erry Sandle received 1,754 to Joe Price's 1,044. County Voters gave 2,160 votes to incumbent Latham Boone III in his bid for reelection to the Texas House of Representatives. Bill Keese received 368 votes and former representative Jimmy Day received 512. In the national races, Lloyd Bentsen received 1,719 votes in his bid for reelection to the U. S. Senate. Phil Gramm received 954; Hugh Wilson 212 and Leon Dugi 12. Charles Wilson received 1,881 votes in his bid for reelection to the U. S. House of Representative and Richard Brown received 894. Railroad commission votes were split between Jerry Sadler with 1,098; Jon Newton, 694; Terence O'Rourk, 253; Lane Denton, 229; .David Finney, 186; R. R. Williams 161; Robert Wood 141 and Woodrow Bean, 103. In the Presidential primary, voters cast 1,045 votes for delegates pledged to Jimmy Carter; 852 votes to delegates pledged to George Wallace and 436 votes to delegate pledged to Lloyd Bentsen. For tax assessor -collector, Incumbent Ola McLaren received 1,340 to 414 votes for Virgil Wells. In the City Judge Race, William F. Carter was leading Roger Knight 1,202 votes to Knight's 522. For State representative, Incumbent Latham Boone III had 499 votes, Jimmy Day had 350 votes and Bill Keese 87 votes. BURLESON COUNTY Sheriff Alfred Wilhelm of Burleson County defeated his challenger, Earle W. Wiederhold, by a vote of 2,021 to 1,466. The sheriff's race was the only contested county race. In the county commissioner precinct 3 race, W. J. Stracener Jr. won the contest without a runoff with 575 votes. His opponents were Edward A. Varner, 121 votes; Vernon Rhoton, 308; and L. D. Hancock, 124. In the race for constable of precinct 3 the candidates were not so lucky. Charles Gerdes, with 305 votes, must meet J. J. Garbs, who got 303 votes, in a runoff.
