Citizens Most property owners ap- pearing before the Brazos County Board of equalizations this morning left satisfied. Some wanted to make sure that their neighbor's property had indeed been raised the same as their own. County Judge W. R. (Bill) Vance and the commissioners assured them that all property outside the bypasses had been put on the tax rolls at a minimum of $18 an acre in addition to 20 per cent for the improvements. Tax Assessor - Collector R a y m o n d Buchanan noted the tax rate has been lowered 10 cents this year, five cents for the state„ two for the county and three for roads. General Telephone Co. was the largest taxpayer to appear during the morning. The representative told the board he didn't mind taxes being raised, but the company's had been raised too much. He noted telephone company property at Texas A &M University had been raised from $26,000 to $35,000. Vance asked him if the exchange hadn't been put in since last year. On the property in Bryan, the representative said $1.6 million would be a fair rendition rather than the $1.75 million rendition by the county. The company had rendered the property for $1.55 million. Vance said the board would act on the company's request later and send them a notice once a decision is reached. Otis McDonald complained his valuation increase from $2,500 to $25,000 was too much. He asked if $10,000 to $12,000 wouldn't be a more reasonable figure. The board settled on $12,500 and said they would remember him again next year. The board lowered the valuation on two houses and lots for Marvin Jeske from $4,500 to $2,400 after Jeske told members he "was robbed buil mQ p i Its a o e Station.
