Bids on Architect Paul Pate was authorized to ask for bids on cunsLruction of a steel stadium, a football field and a cinder ;rack on the site of the new b4gh school during the A &M Consolidated S c h o 01 Board meeting Monday. The board voted to allow Pate to plan on having hot lunches at the rew school catered by the South Knoll Elementary cafeteria. When enrollment at the new school reaches 1,200, plans are to be made to con - I truct a central kitchen to serve ll the district's schools. The catering of the high chool from South Knoll would ave money on personnel and torage, and transportation ould not be a big problem, ate said. If the catering does not prove atisfactory, Pate said, a kit- hen can be built in the high c h o o l with only minor lterations. He approximated the savings to the district from catering at between $25,000 and $30,000. Pate was given permission to Sch 0 o a for alternate bid on car- peting in the school library and other areas, cork flooring for the basketball court, brick walls; and baked enamel and aluminum windows. He also was given permission to offer the contractor a bonus for completing construction on time, rather than asking for liquidated damages on the bid. Pate explained changes in the plan of the school complex wnich included moving the cafeteria to an area between the gym and the auditorium to allow expansion on the other side of the complex, moving the shop area to the side of the gym, and switching the choir area to the first floor and the band area to the second floor. Pate said drawings for the school will be completed by June 15, and that he will ask for bids then. He said he ex- pects six or seven bidders to respond. On an order of 150 uniforms, Southern Engraving Co. bid $106.90 per uniform and $16,035 for the order; Sol Frank bid $99.40 per uniform and $14,910 for the order; and Ostwell, Inc., bid $99.90 per uniform and $14,- 985 for the order. Sol Frank said uniforms could be delivered 90 to 120 days after receipt of a sample and ap. proval. Ostwell, Inc., said delivery could be made in 75 . t'ays. Riedel said he thought financing could be arranged over a three or to five -year period. Two tentative dates, June 15 , 1nd June 23, were set at the request of Mayor D. A. (Andy) Anderson for a dinner meeting with the College Station City ( at which no business is to be conducted. The board meeting was closed to discuss personnel.
