(Andy) Anderson has
proclaimed Jan. 15 as Arbor
-Day in the city.
The third Friday of each year
is recognized as Arbor Day in
Texas. Free Arbor Day kits are
being offered bv. the Texas
Forest Service to assist schools
and conservation - minded groups
in developing programs.
"Arbor Day is associated with
the planting of trees and shrubs
which add beauty to a com-
munity and each citizen of
College Station can contribute
to the beautv of our city
through the planting of trees
and shrubs , " ' Anderson

The mayor urged all citizens
to observe the day with
planting so that the city will

CITY OF COLLEGE STATION
WHEREAS, the third Friday of each year is recog-
nized as Arbor Day in Texas, and
WHEREAS, Arbor Day is assn: fated with the plant-
ing of trees anu. shrubs which add beauty
to a community, and '
WHEREAS, trees encourage bird life, of interest and
value to many citizens, and
WHEREAS, each citizen of College Station can con-
tribute to the beauty of our city through
the planting of trees and shrubs, and
WHEREAS, Governor Preston Smith has encouraged
the statewide observance of Arbor Day,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, D.A. Anderson, Mayor of.
College Station, do hereby proclaim Friday, January
16, 1970 as Arbor Day in the City of College Station
and urge all citizens to observe this day with app -
ropiate plantings of trees and shrubs so that our
city will be one of beauty and a better community
in which to live.
