D. A. "Andy" Anderson
has been designated as
Lifetime Active Advisor to
the Texas Advisory Com-
mittee- on Conservation
and Environmental Educ-
tion.
This honor was tendered
Anderson by Dr. William_

Fisher, president of the
Committee, at its recent
meeting in Austin.
The Texas Advisory
Committee on Conser-
vation and Environmental
Education is one which
serves in an advisory capa-
city, to the Texas Educa-
tion Agency. It also
conducts workshops for
Texas teachers. T1 Com-
mittee is made u of
individuals from resource
agencies, schools, colleges
and universities whose
active membership term-
inates upon retirement.
Appointments are made by
the Commissioner of Ed-
ucation.
Anderson, in the pre-
sentation, was cited by
Fisher for his leadership
and devotion to the cause

of conservation and envir-
onmental education in the
state of Texas for over 20
years. He was credited as
being instrumental in the
establishment of the Com-
mittee in 1956. For two
years Anderson served as
its chairman.
Many educational honors
have been given Anderson.
He is an honorary member
of the Elementary Science
Teachers Association, an
affiliate of the National
Science Teachers Associa-
tion and though retired,
remains active in conser-
vation and environmental
matters nationwide.
