City Manager Ran Boswell said the trucks were painted white because they are easier to see at night. "More and more cities are using white fire vehicles; they are easier to see at night. We hope this may prevent acci- dents with fire vehicles," Bos- ell said. The fire trucks were ordered by the city one year ago at a cost of approximately $69.000. They were manufactured in El- ira, New York, by the Amer - n La France Co. The trucks are temporarily stored in the new fire station on State Highway 6. Mayor D. A. (Andy) Ander- son said that except for a serv- ice check -out to see that they are in good operating condi -' tion, they can be ut into serv- ice almost immediately. He ded that radios will be in. lled in the units within the eek. Anderson said that some fur - nishings for the new fire sta- tion will be installed within the next three weeks. He added that additional needs will gradually be met as funds become avail- able. C.S. Receives New Firetrucks Mayor D.A. Manufactured in Elmira, New York, by the Amer- ican La France Company, the two (2) 750 gallon per minute pumpers were delivered from the service and distribution center at Houston. The units are temporarily stored in the new fire station on State Highway 6. Except for a servie check -out to see that they are in good operating condition, they can be put into ser- vice almost immediately, Mayor Anderson said.
