Bright Future
George A. Eby, the new
College Station city planner,
ays he has great confidence
in what the city could and
would be in the future.
"My principal objective right
now is to develop a Workable
Program application," Eby
said. He added that the ap-
plication is a prerequisite for
certain Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD)
funds.
"My secondary objective is to
assist the planning and zoning
commission in whatever
manner I can," Eby said.
Eby received his masters
degree in urban planning from
Texas A &M University last
January, and his bachelors'
Edinburg, in 1965.
Eby was born in Temple, but
was raised on a farm in
McAllen. He served in Me
Strategic Air Command (SAC)
for four years before attending
Pan American College in 1964.
He worked for Grumman
Aircraft Corp. in Clear lake
City for one year before coming
to College Station.
"I applied for jobs all over
the area, and was glad I
received the position as city
planner. I wanted to stay here
in the Bryan- College Station
area," Eby said.
Eby said his real love is
sports cars. He owns a 1966
Lotus Elan which he enters in
frequent sports car events.
Eby added that he has won
30 or 40 trophies from ap-
proximately 50 races.
His wife, Patsy, is a math
teacher at A &M Consolidated
School. They reside at 1404 E.
27th, Bryan.
