(Andy) Ander- son, incumbent mayor. Don Dale, general contractrr, has served on the City Equaliza- tion Board and on the Consoli- dated School District Equaliza- tion Board. He was also Chair- man of the School District Equalization Board. He has been in the construction, devel. opment and finance business for 25 years. Dale has served as President of ESCO and has had Civil Service Rating Administra- tion and Management GS15. Presently, he is a member of the Board of Adjustments and .Appeals for the City of College Station (Southern B u i l d i n g Code). Listing five projects to be completed or started by the City Council in the next two years, Dale states: full time City Engineer to implement street, water, and sewer pro- grams with the future criteria of design; street improvements, in- cluding action on long standing proposed thoroughfares; re -eval- uation of planning and zoning aims and goals for growth and development with protection of existing deed restrictions; ac- tion on sewer plant expansion and the initiation of a city •own- ed water supply; and re- evalua- tion of studies concerning po- lice protection, fire protection; street lighting, city offices, and utility rates. According to Dale, the City of College Station excels in the areas of the quality of people which is reflected by the fine churches, public schools, and the Texas A &M University's program of "excellence." "The City is lacking in the areas of good streets, thorough- fares, street lights, planned ac- tion for securing •technical and (See DALE, Page 4) Bryan Building and Loan As- sociation — Your SAVINGS Center since 1919. —Adv. 14 Dale (Continued from Page 1) research industries and busi- ness and the lack of cooperation with Texas A &M and the Con- solidated School Board," Dale stated. Dale remarked, "There is no advantage in my opinion in con- solidation of Bryan and College Station. Our aims and problems are different." Dale's ideas on salary raises for city employes are that they should be commensurate with comparable cities of College Sta- tion's size, with consideration given to the quality of perfor- mance' and longevity. He includes in his policy an expansion of the fire and po- lice departments reflected upon priorities and needs within budget. When asked who should b considered first when a zoning change is requested, Dale re plied, "First consideration o', deed restrictions with the will and consent of the close surd, rounding property owners. "A park plan of positive ac- tion and budget in cooperation with qualified park planners within our City would help to improve the city parks," Dale said. Dale thinks active scheduled meetings with College Station, Bryan, and Texas A &M admin- istrators, in which one or more persons of authority in each ad- ministration is represented, would help to improve the three relationships. "This should also encompass our County and Pub- lic School authorities," Dale noted. "If the present administra- tion activates all the proposed improvements in the Bond Is- sue, plus the absolute necessary facilities demanded by our growth, they will have to raise our taxes. Needed improve- ments and growth should be paid for by expanding our tax base, not by -increasing our taxes," Dale said. He continued, "My candidacy is for the people of College Sta- tion with a program of Excel- lency to meet the challenge that our citizens should expect in a great expanding city." DON DALE
