College Station Mayor D. A.
(Andy) Anderson cautiously
snipped a ribbon of $1 bills
this morning officially open-
ing a new drive -in banking
facility and parking lot at the
Bank of A &M.
Formerly the Bank of Com-
merce in College Station, the
bank also observed the chang-
ing of its name today.
Over 100 Bryan - College Sta-
tion chamber of commerce and
business leaders attended the
11 a.m. ceremony.

Goehring explained, "We
changed our name to the Bank
of A &M to better identify the
bank with the community it
serves."

(Dick) Hervey were also on
the program. Naylor empha-
sized the importance of finan-
cial instutions to the growth
of Bryan - College Station, and
Hervey, noting "we have many
plus factors in our combined
communities," offered h i s
"hearty congratulations to all
of those who had a part in
bringing this about."
The ribbon cutting ceremony
and official announcement of
the bank's new name begins a
week -long open house at the
facility.
