In filing for the office of Mayor, Anderson pledged to provide progressive and aggressive leadership which will assure the necessary orderly expansion and development of The City of College Station in keeping with our ability to pay. "Continued growth of our city," Anderson said, "must keep pace with the tremendous growth taking place at Texas AM University. A carefully designed program of long and short range priority goals is needed as a guide to the growth of our city, and must be initiated," Anderson concluded. Anderson was the principal advocate of the City's successful "pay -as- you -go" street development program, established by the Council in 1958. He also advocated the establishment of the City Parks Committee which is working to develop recreational spots within the city. -2- Anderson who has resided in College Station since 1939 received a graduate degree in Range Management from Texas AM University in 1952. He is a Member of the Society of American Forester, Texas Forestry Association, and Texas Advisory Committee on Conservation Education.
