In 1999 he retired from the Alexandria, Virginia Police Department after more than twenty years of service. Also in 1999 he was appointed Chief in Westerville, Ohio. He left Ohio to become Chief in College Station in early 2005. Chief Clancey is married and has two grown daughters. He enjoys sports and the outdoors. McCARTHY AND K9 BRANDO OFFICER PATRICK J. McCARTHY AND K9 BRANDO Officer Patrick J. McCarthy joined the College Station, Texas Police Department in August of 2001 after spending a brief time with the Caldwell, Texas Police Department. He has served on the Honor Guard and as a Field Training Officer training new Police Officers. Officer McCarthy became the K9 Handler in 2006. His K9 partner, Brando, is a male Dutch - Shepherd who was born in Holland on September 21, 2001, just ten days after the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. The K9 Unit was formed shortly thereafter in response to the terrorist attacks and an increased demand • for dignitary protection in our area. Brando specializes in article recovery, explosives detection, and criminal apprehension. Brando rides with Officer McCarthy every day on patrol and has his own special seat in the car.
