HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008 Draft letter to restaurants Dear Restaurant Owner or Manager,
The City of College Station Project HOLD office works closely with the Historic
Preservation Committee to document and archive our local history. HOLD is an acronym
for Historic Online Library Database (http: / /HOLD.cstx.gov). Through this website we
are recording our local history for use by students, historians, genealogists, teachers, and
authors.
Part of our endeavors includes hosting six Exploring History Lunch Lectures throughout
the year. The Explore lectures help us to educate the community about our history. These
lectures are by reservation only and generally bring in 100 and 125 guests each time. We
are looking for local restaurants who would be interested in sponsoring one or more
lectures during the 2008 schedule by providing the lunch. We normally serve a light self -
serve lunch, no dessert, with tea and water using disposable plates, cups, napkins and
cutlery.
The lunch lectures are held at the College Station Conference Center, 1300 George Bush
Drive, with the luncheon set up by 11 am and served by 11:30am. The buffet may be
removed by 12:30pm.
These are the dates for the upcoming 2008 schedule:
January 16
February 20
April 16
May 21
September 17
October 15
Each event is publicized on the City's website, on CSTV -19, and through a database
mailing of over 350 families and all 900 City employees. Your restaurant name will be
featured as a sponsor for the series in all of our media spots and publications.
If you are interested in helping us preserve our memories and promote historic
preservation, please contact me through the information below. I have attached the
postcard for our next lecture.
Thank you for your consideration.
Regards,
Anne
