Reason for running:
As a committed citizen of this community for over 21 years, I would like to take
this opportunity to be part of the process that will directly affect the quality of life
in our community. The city of College Station is a growing dynamic community
with many challenges ahead and I would like to contribute my services to
providing solutions to those challenges through a common sense approach.
Qualifications:
As a candidate in this race, it is my belief that my administrative education, training
and experience in management finance and accounting have given me the required
skills necessary to serve as a city council member.
* Graduated with Honors from Southwest Texas State University with a bachelors
degree in Business Administration.
* Over 30 years of management and finance experience
* Currently serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of
College Station.
* Served on the Capital Improvements Advisory Committee for the City of
College Station.
Background:
* Retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of military service.
* Moved to College Station 21 years ago as the Assistant State Auditor assigned
to the audit of Texas A &M University.
* Employed by the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station as the Assistant to the
Director.
* Employed by the Texas A &M University System as the Manager of
Investments.
* Currently employed by the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center as the Director
of Operations and Finance.
Personal:
* Age 60
* Married for 39 years to Anna Jean Silvia, formerly Anna Jean Pieper of Goliad, Texas
* Father of two children: Randall S. Silvia (38) and Sharon K. Gillespie (30)
* Grandfather of two children: Susan K. Laster (14) and Anthony V. Silvia (12)
* Resident of College Station 21 years
* A Member of the College Station Noon Lions Club for over 11 years.
