Dear Mr. Canglose:
Texas A &M University is requesting that the civil defense supplies
located in previously assigned shelters on campus be removed.
Although President Earl Rudder agreed to the shelters and supplies
in the 1960 it is believed that very few if any could be used at
this time. The supplies have been vandalized over the past twenty
years and those remaining are outdated and in poor shape. These
supplies are creating space and housekeeping problems for the Uni-
versity. Some of the supplies have had to be re- located because of
federal regulations pertaining to combustibles near PCB transformers,
and others have had to be destroyed.
- Texas A &M President, Dr. Frank Vandiver, is in agreement that these
,lull defense materials should be removed. His aooroval is indicated
below.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions. Your assistance
in this matter will be appreciated.
Yours very truly,
Robert H. Stiteler, Jr.

MEMORANDUM
To Mr. Harry Stiteler, Jr.
University Safety & Health Officer
Texas A &M Civil Defense Coordinator
Subject: Civil Defense Supplies
Reference Letter dated April 2, 1987, File No. 1900.00
Dear Mr. Stiteler:
The Brazos County Civil Defense Coordinators and officers of the
Civil Defense Council met May 26 to decide what approach should be
taken to remove these supplies from Texas A&M University buildings.
It was agreed that, due to the lack of storage facilities and the
continued deterioration of these supplies, t e best policy would be
to make these items available to Texas A&M University. Bryan, College
Station, and the County /City Health Department for utilization in
their operations at no cost.
Please review the attached lists and forward your requests for
those items you feel the university can put to effective use.
Sincerely yours,
Jake Cangiose ,
Brazos County Civil Defense
Coordinator and Chairman
