Topics:
1. April 8, 1979 - Exercise, College Station, State Guard,Hospitals
Need - Critique - Notes
This exercise was successfully conducted. The written evaluation
is incomplete.
2. April 9 -13, 1979 - Radiological Defense Officer Training,
Brazos Center
This course was conducted by men from the Texas Department of
Health for people from Dallas to Houston. Of these six were
from Brazos County: 1 from Brazos County Civil Defense Office,
1 from the Bryan Police Dept., 2 from TAMU Police Dept.,and
2 from the Texas District Highway Dept.
3. April 19, 1979 - Submitted 1980 Budget Request
4. May 21, 1979 - Submitted Civil Defense needs for the 20 year
master planning of Brazos County Physical needs.
5. May 18, 1979 - Jake Canglose and Ben Wormeli met with St.
Joseph Asst. Administrator, Mrs. Pat Whitt, and Disaster
Chairman, Jim LaFon, on the hospital's disaster plan.
6. May 15, 1979 - Need for NOAA generator standby at KAMU -TV Tower
for NOAA antenna. 10 -15 KW Was impressed, the estimated
cost is $6000 to $7000.
7. May 11, 1979 - Texas Dept. of Health - During next Fiscal
Year (TX 80) 10 -1 -79 through 9- 30 -80. They will visit
Brazos County. On site inspection of RADEF instruments.
Provide program assistance to improve monitoring and reporting
capability. We will advise them that our preference for this
occurance is during the last week in July (24 thru 28) in 1980.
Col. Carroll Bell will work with them on this.

8. With reference to the DCPA 16 hour field Radiological Monitor-
ing course - See Attached DCPA Information Bulletin #304 -
4/17/79.
Mr. Canglose outlined the following:
A. Contact the fire chiefs of Bryan and College
Station to see if the Emergency Medical Technicians
of their departments will participate in this course
if it is available locally.
B. Determine if other members of the police and fire
departments of Bryan, College Station, TAMU, and
county sheriff would participate in this course.
C. The objective is to have RADEF equipment avail-
able in each unit and trained competent personnel
ready to make prompt evaluation should threatening
radiation occur.
D. Would need about 12 students to schedule this
course with our RDO's sharing in the training with a
Department of Health representative from Austin or
Waco. Col. Bell could be available in September.

NATIONAL REGISTRY OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS
GRANTS CREDITS FOR RADIOLOGICAL MONITORING COURSE
The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians has
agreed to award 25 .'oi.nts or 16 hours for completion by Emergency
Medical Technicians of the DCPA 16 -hour, field Radiological
MonitorinK course, "as per activity No. 4."
Credits will not be awarded for completion of the Officer or
Instructor courses.
At the time of normal re- registration, each Emergency Medical
Technician must submit to the National Registry some form of
official verification that he /she has successfully completed the
Radiological Monitoring course. For this purpose, a photocopy of the
Radiological Monitoring certificate is acceptable.
State and local Radiological Monitoring Instructors should so
advise all their students.
