CIVIL DEFENSE COUNCIL MEETING

ITEM I Civil Defense Conference, Austin, February 24 -25
1st day of meeting -- -Jake and Judge Vance.
Ben Wormeli-- 24 -25. Decision for attendance will be
made 19 -20 Feb.
ITEM II Jake: Recommended change from 40 -40 -20 to 1/3, 1/3,
1/3 on pay schedule. Also requested that Brazos,
Bryan and College Station all contribute to a central
fund for one payroll. Managers will meet and decide
on proposal.
ITEM III Letter from M.P. Bowden, State Coordinator, Austin on
"Fallout Shelter Food Stocks". Disposition agreeded
to let DCPA have all shelter biscuits in stock.
ITEM IV Capt. Robert Blanz gave us 4 books on "Military
Support of Civil Authoriities". Jake asked for 4 more.
ITEM V. Jake: State Guard has requested a Civil Defense State
Guard exercise similar to the one held in 1972. Planned
on or about 16 March. To establish communications and
coordinations for alert calls in case of a disaster.
Plan to meet'in National Guard. To include fire, police
depts. and DPS.
ITEM VI Fiscal year 1976 program paper.
ITEM VII Jake contacted FCC, Washington on phone to try to
speed -up approval of the disaster warning radio
band and authority to broadcast.
ITEM VIII : Judge Vance recommended we place a priority on local
disaster planning and improve our ability to shelter
and feed refugees from natural disasters such as
tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. It was agreed that the
major effort should be in this direction.
