Tornado do r. eporr and warning procedures weie tllneT. n a plan presented by the County Director, Mr. Cangelose. The plan was reviewed, discussed, and approved by all in attendance. Folders showing the step by step operation were distributed. It was decided that a leaflet be made available to the public, explaining the warning signals. All persons involved in the plan will be notified and briefed during the next month, 2. I. D. Cards were shown to the group. The cards wi be issued to staff personnel by the Personnel & Training Director. 3. Identification Tags for staff vehicles was mentioned briefly. Tags attach to license plates and will identify cars as official vehicles. Directors Cangelose and Neaves will get tags made. 4. Civil Defense Dad will be observed nationally December 7, 1959. Literature and posters have been ordered and arrangements for a local program or demonstration on that date will be made by Directors Sandlin, Hill, and Neaves, 5. Directors Meeting s will be held regularly at CT ton's at 6:45 in the morning on the 2nd Thursday of each month. November 12 (next). Attendance: Jake Cangelose, Fred Sandlin, John Hill, Ed Burns, Bennie Zinn, Woody Cox, David Haines, Dr. Huebner, Chester O'Donnell, & Walter Neaves. Public School Civil Defense organization was introduced by W. Cangelose. E. C. McLarty, Bryan Public Schools, and J. D. Chaney, A. & M. Consolidated, were named School Coordinators on the County Director's staff. 2. An Organizational Outline stating the basic scope of operation of Brazos County Civil Defense was explained by Asst. County Director Burns. 3. National Guard Relations with Civil Defense was briefly explained by Major Howard Perry, County Military Liason Officer. 4. Civil Air Patrol Relations with local Civil De- fense Activities were reviewed by Lee Piranio, Bryan Civil Air Patrol Commander. 5. The Texas Education A enc 's Training Program which will begin Deceerat A. & M. was dis- cussed by the group. 6. Orders for Civil Defense Bad'es were taken by Dir- ec or 'eaves a ter t e group ad seen a sample badge. 7. A Night Meeting for the month of December was announced by Director Cangelose. The purpose of the meeting would be to orient the Directors in their new jobs and to explain Brazos County's responsibilities in the overall state and nation- al Civil Defense Plan. A guest from State Civil Defense Hq. Will be invited. Manuals, training aids, literature, completion certificates, and instructor fees will be furnished by the Texas Education Agency. 2. Boy Scout Tappoitien plans wore briefly dis- cussed. several exhibits re- latod to Civil Defense activities on display. Dates aro February 12 - 13. Tickets can bo purchased from any Scout or Scouter. 3. National Guard. Bryan Business Transacted: 1. Public School Civil Defense plans were announced by the School Coordinators. J. D. Chaney, A. & M. Consolidated CD Coordinator, presented all members preseit with copies of his school system's plan of action. E. C. 1vicLarty, Bryan Schools Coordinator, reported on his progress. 2. Public Civil Defense Classes to begin in Jani1ery were expiaineUTh=t was announ- ced that the first class would be at Ben Milam School on January 26. 3. 1960 Boy Scout Exposition plans were men- tioned and it was decided treat the Rescue truck would be on display for the occasion. Activity During Month: The first Public Civil Defense class was completed February 4, with 19 people re- ceiving certificates. Several more of the group attended all but one of the sessions and will not receive their certificates until they make up the missed classes. Another course for Negroes was began the day before yesterday, February 9, at one of the colored schools.
