EERGENCY PREPARADNESS STATUS of EXPLORER POST 380

The purpose of this letter is to advise you of the capabilities of
Explorer Post 380, and their willingness to serve as a qualified resource
to the corrnxnity in tine of disaster or other emergency. Your assistance
in bringing this information to the attention of appropriate city and county
authorities would be appreciated.
This unit has accomplished the emergency service training specified in
t L e "E ERGEPCY PREPARADUESS -. S.A. " manual, and is rated as a "READY" unit
with 955 of its members having comoleted ell training courses and field tests.
The attached data outlines unit capabilities, manpower, equipment, and
availability to local agencies. Authorities interested in establishing liaison
with this unit nay do so through the undersigned unit leader.

CAPABILITIES
iAN OWr , - - - - One adult leader (iithiLmni) and 19 "READY" Explorers
ranging in age from 14 to 1$.

SEARCIi AN LIGHT RESCUE - as a source for augmentation of adult units, or as
a self - sufficient unit with search- sector res :onsi-
bilities. Specialty is day /night rural or open country
search. Unit is self - sustaining for four days without
resupply.
:VILE CON Al D POST FACILITY - to furnish and assist in the operation of a
mobile command post environment for use by authorities
directing emergency operations.
I0?3ILE FIRST AID STATION - to furnish and assist in the operation of a mobile,
moderately well- equipyped first aid station.
TRAFFIC COLTROL AND ROUTII1G -under proper supervision, to assist in the routing
of emergency traffic and the control of other traffic
effected by emergencies or having an effect on emergency
operations.
EOUIPLENT
FACILITIES One 20 ft self - contained travel trailer in Lich all
equipment and stores are maintained in ready status.
Unit is kept at 1005 Glade Street, College Station.
POWER 115VAC 60cy 2KW portable power plant with 3--12 hrs fuel.
12VDC storage battery in trailer.
LIGIHTING 115VAC /12VDC trailer lights, candles, kerosene lanterns,
portable spot and flood lighting.

FIRST AiD SUPPLIES - - - One individual kit per unit member, plus one footlocker
of main- station supplies including splints, etc.
SUBSISTENCE 60 an days non - perishable rations plus 55 gals water.
MISCELLANEOUS Heavy and light toal s, whistles, signal flags, 400 ft of
heavy rope, etc.

SUBSISTENCE SUPPORT
30 minutes from notification of unit leader.
45 minutes from notification of unit leader,
the trailer facility and a minimum support
crew could depart College Station location.
Dalance of unit would be deployed as transportation
becames available.
Automatic excuse from school on file with the
Principal's Office, to be exercised at the
discretion of the unit leader by a brief
telephone alert message. Continued participation
during school hours would be determined by the
overall nature of the emergency and the value
of the services rendered by the unit.
Tau vehicle and trailer facility norAll ly
restricted to all — weather roads and other
surfaces with good trafficabil_ity characteristics.
Unit will furnish subsistence support to members
of control team of directing agency when actually
using the trailer facility as a control point.
Reimbursement at the rate of $2.00 per day would
