Psychiatric Center, Inc.
A Comprehensive Community Mental Health Center
The Bluebonnett Psychiatric Center, for-
merly the Central Brazos Valley Mental
Health Center, held an open house on
August 11, 1977 at its facility on W.
28th Street. The Board of Directors had
instituted a name change contest, in re-
sponse to some confusion the difference
between its services provides in relation
to the Brazos Valley Mental Health -
Mental Retardation Center. Mr. Gene
Woodell, winner of the $100 offered by
the Bluebonnet Psychiatric Center for its
new name, had this to say at the ribbon -
cutting ceremony, "I'm so proud to have
helped name such a fine facility. Brazos
County is fortunate to house this center

and to be able to meet the needs of so
many people in our seven county area."
In addition to its existing facilities, the
BPC has added a halfway house which
provides 10 beds for those individuals
who no longer require 24 hour super-
vised inpatient care, but are not yet ready
for treatment on an outpatient basis.
BPC's Director, Dr. Kenross Wright. also
announced the association of Dr. Glenn
Hirsch, a psychiatrist. with the center.
Toby Rives, President of the board of
Directors of the facility was given a
plaque in appreciation for her service
as Board president. ❑
