The following information was obtained from M/M Cartwright
- The present 3 or garage was built by Mr. Zeller as a shooting gallery. He was a pistol and rifle
enthusiast and reloaded all otitis own ammunition. Rev. Anderson who lived across the alley
from this home had homing pigeons. Immediately after the City of College Station was
incorporated Rev. Anderson went before the City Council and obtained a city ordinance
prohibiting the discharge of a firearm inside the city. Mr. Zeller then purchased a firm on Hwy 6
for shooting guns only. No animals or crops. Nor did he ever have a pet. Strictly a loner.
- White must have been Mr. Zellers favorite color. He owned only white sucks, which he wort
• with his white panama hat and dark suit. In the early days he had a bicycle, notorcycic and a
pickup truck. Later he sold all three and purchased a white Dodge pickup and a white Dodge
sedan. The sedan was only used once a wee .An Sunday he dressed up and drove tbn sedan to
church. All other times he drove the pickup.
- At age 75 someone told him he needed a new broom. He informed them that his mother had
given hum that broom and it was the only broom he had ever owned at his death.
- The four Cartwright children, while in school, never wrote an essay about anything or anybody
other than Mr. Zeller because of his outstanding individuality.
