(Dick) Birdwell Consulting Engineer # 3 Forest College Station, Texas 77840 (409) 260 2076 (800) 294 0475 FAX (409) 260 1288 Nov. 3, 1997 Mr. Steve Beachy Parks Director City of College Station P.O. Box 9960 College Station, TX 77842 Dear Steve: Enclosed is a check from Mrs. Elsie Patranella Sauer for $4,000.00. This gift to the College Station Cemetery is to provide funds to start the memorial walk that is planned as a fund raising project for the cemetery. It is understood that the Luke Patranella memorial plague from the Oakwood school recreation slab will be placed near the planned walk. The following is suggested wording for an information sign: The Luke Patranella memorial plague located here was originally located on a recreational slab at the Oakwood School. The slab was built with funds donated in memory of Mr. Patranella on his death in 1946. Luke Patranella owned the first grocery store in College Station and was the first person buried in this cemetery after College Station was incorporated. Please let me know if I can be of further help. Yours very truly: z# Dick Birdwell
