HomeMy WebLinkAbout11 PH Progress Report 11.6.2008 HPC Meeting Staff Report: November 6, 2006 Staff: Anne Boykin Reference to Agenda Item: #12 Project HOLD Progress Report October Acquisitions —591 pages in 47 files College Station Conference Center Heritage Display • The Panther Pride: Lincoln High School Football of 1949 -1965 exhibit being prepared and will be installed in November. Connections • Anne Boykin presented the Project HOLD program to the "Writing Your Memoirs" class at the Conference Center, Oct. 24 Laserfiche • Information Services installed Laserfiche 7.0.5 , which changed the way Project HOLD appears on the screen. Visually it looks different, but it seems easier to navigate. Anne Boykin will write new user - friendly instructions for the website. Project HOLD Moment in History • A new newsletter will be issued after the Panther Pride display is finished. Oral History Team • Olivia Burnside and Katie Elrod attended a Society of American Archivist Oral History workshop at TAMU on Oct. 6 • Anne Triche -Steen and Anne Boykin conducted an oral history interview with Coach Jerome T. Delley, Jr. in preparation for The Panther Pride exhibit. • The interview with Coach Delley was conducted with our new Sony digital voice recorder. The software was installed late last week on both of the Project HOLD computers. The software has editing capability. The interview file will appear as a .wav file in Project HOLD. • Mr. J.O. Alexander, who wasinterviewed last January, along with his wife Nan, passed away this October 23` The Alexander's founded the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center due to their son, Sid, being born with cerebral palsy. Volunteers • Please continue to submit your hours so that they may be documented in the Points of Light foundation database. • Steve Cukierski, another new volunteer, will be working on the upcoming exhibit. He is new to the College Station area from University of Maryland. He has a background in museum conservation, exhibits and photography. His last job involved scanning in the slide collection for the University of Maryland School of Nursing. We are especially fortunate to have him as a volunteer while he awaits acceptance into graduate school. • Please make note of the significant increase in the number of pages that were scanned this month. Our sincere thanks go out to our two new scanning volunteers!
