Meeting was called to order by Hillary Jessup at 4:15 p.m.

Motion was made, seconded to approve the minutes. (MW/SI)
Agenda Item #6: Committee Reports
Parks Project Committee (Lou and Jane)
Nothing new to report.
Exploring History Lunch Lectures (Ernie, Jane and Hillary)
Anne B. and Hillary will choose a date to discuss the lecture theme and speakers.
They will coordinate with Marci Rodgers and the Senior Advisory Committee to
get their input as well. Lisa Kalmus suggested Col. Jim Woodall (Ret.) to speak on
his upcoming book about the Aggie Congressional Medal of Honor winners.
Members are to send their suggestions to Anne B. if they cannot make the meeting.
Historic Markers (Meredith and Hillary)
The Committee approved Historic Home #85 marker for 1203 Walton Drive.
(MW/CR) Anne B. reported that a replacement marker for Café Eccel’s Historic
Building #1 has been ordered. The expense will be covered by the Heritage
Programs budget since the city still owns the building and purchased the original
marker.
Oral History Project (Lou and Anne Steen)
No report..
Project HOLD (Lou, Colleen and Anne Steen)
Anne B. reported that the Proposed FY09 Budget for Heritage Programs was not
approved.

Education Committee (Jane, Ernie, and Lou)

Agenda Item #7: 70th Birthday of the City of College Station
Anne B. reported that the Council Reunion special reception at Café Eccel was
confirmed. She is designing the invitation and working on the guest list which will
include current and former mayors, council members, select members of city staff
and the HPC. Café Eccel will provide the room and refreshments.
Agenda Item #8: HPC Retreat
In lieu of an October regular meeting, the HPC will meet at Hillary’s, 113 Lee
Avenue, for the annual HPC Retreat, Friday, Oct. 17, 10am-2pm. Lunch will be
tortilla soup.
