Approved Absence: Susan Irza Unapproved Absence: Lisa Kalmus Staff Attendance: Anne Boykin, Heritage Programs Coordinator Visitors: N/A Agenda Item #1: Call to Order Meeting was called to order by Earl Apgar at 4:10 p.m. Agenda Item #2-3: Hear Visitors: N/A Agenda Item #4: Possible action and discussion on absence requests. Susan Irza’s absence was approved. Anne T. asked that the record show that her absence was excused. Earl reported that he had discussed, with Connie Hooks, replacing Lisa Kalmus’ due to her absences. Agenda Item #5: Possible action and discussion to approve meeting minutes of regular meeting of December 7, 2009. Approved. (HJ/jm) Agenda Item #6: Report from Heritage Programs Coordinator. Anne B. referred members to the attached report. Agenda Item #7: Committee Reports: • 75th Anniversary – Earl Apgar Earl reported that a meeting was held to begin planning for the city’s 75th anniversary in 2013. A new history book is planned along with a media and Internet package. Earl and Anne B. met with city staff and Greg Phelps (Frame x Frame) to discuss future plans. • Development & El Camino Real (Liaison) – Susan Irza No report. • Native American Interpretive Path – Ernie Wright City of College Station Historic Preservation Committee 1/29/2010 Ernie reported that the Native American Pathway might be ready to introduce during the 2013 anniversary year. • Historic Markers Program – Meredith Waller Discussions were held about the possibility of a historic homes tour in conjunction with the A&M Garden Club Gardens tour. Anne B. mentioned dedicated (repainting) the historic street sign on Lee Avenue at the same time. • Oral History Project – Lou Hodges Lou continues working on scanning in the James Burns Davis A&M scrapbook c. 1928. He mentioned the possibility of getting a DVD about clock making from Mary Smith. • PR/Communications/Sponsorships – James McGinnis James will handle the call backs to some of the restaurants we have approached to sponsor the Exploring History Lunch Lecture Series. • Texas Association of Museums (Liaison)/Local History Organizations – Lisa Kalmus No report. • Landmark Commission (Liaison) – Hillary Jessup Hillary reported that there are some issues that need need to be addressed before the historic district can be instituted. Parking issues have slowed the progress. • Educational Initiatives/School Activities – Libby Vastano Libby will continue to work toward promoting the next Hot Rocks event in the schools. • Volunteer Recruitment – Anne Triche-Steen Anne T. will be working on volunteer recruitment for Project HOLD. • Exploring History Lunch Lectures – Earl Apgar The series is off to a great start.
