Currie Born among God's People: February 8, 1922 To the Church Eternal: December 26, 2008 December 30, 2008 11 :00a.m + + + PRELUDE SEATING OF THE FAMILY OPENING SENTENCES from Psalm 124 :8; Isaiah 40:28 -31; Ephesians 2:8 -10 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The Lord does not faint or grow weary, giving power to the faint and strengthening the powerless. Even the strong among God's people become weary and exhausted. Those who wait for the Lord, however, discover their strength renewed. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and walk without fainting. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; It is the gift of God — not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what God has made us, Created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life. * HYMN No. 403 What a Friend We Have In Jesus Converse PRAYER OF PRAISE AND CONFESSION SCRIPTURE Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For Thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil. My cup runneth over. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. PERSONAL REMEMBRANCES SCRIPTURE Proverbs 31:10 -20, 25 -31 John 14, selected verses James 1:22 -25; 2:14 -17 GOSPEL PROCLAMATION PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING, INTERCESSION, AND THE LORD'S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. * STATEMENT OF FAITH Romans 8:37 -39 In all things, we are more than conquerors through God who loves us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. * HYMN No. 280 Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound Amazing Grace BENEDICTION CLOSING VOLUNTARY AND RECESSIONAL Worship Leaders Rev.
