HomeMy WebLinkAboutBCHC_minutes_01.11.10 BRAZOS COUNTY HISTORICAL COMMISSION Regular Meeting, January 11, 2010 Room 103 – College Station Conference Center 1300 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Henry Mayo at 6:19 p.m. Those present were: Barbara Althaus, John Blair, Anne Boykin, La Verne Hawkins, Dorothy Hernandez, Chad Hovde, Lauren Hovde, Tom Lynch, Henry Mayo, Regina Operstney, Wayne Sadberry, & Nancy Tiner. No guests were present. The Minutes of the December 12, 2009 meeting were approved as printed and distributed. Committee Reports: Research & Markers -Henry Mayo announced the Bethel Cemetery plaque will be dedicated May 2, 2010. The Railroad marker narrative is being rewritten. History Appreciation/Education – No report Heritage Tourism/Outreach – Chairman Barbara Althaus gave her report. Finance & Budget -$5.54 has been spent on postage. Publicity – No report Endangered Properties – Chairman Chad Hovde asked for information from members. Wayne Sadberry mentioned the Kemp House. Unfinished Business: Chairman Mayo noted some members still need to take the Open Meeting training. Bylaws Review – Wayne Sadberry moved “next meeting only cover Bylaws Review and Development – subject to Susan Irza being able to attend”. The motion was seconded and ADOPTED. Correspondence of the Chair – A notice has been received of construction of a new cell tower. Announcements -Chairman announced he needs members’ volunteer hours for his Annual report to the Texas Historical Commission.. A roast for Bob French will be held Jan. 14 at Miramont Country Club. A fundraiser for the African-American Museum will be Jan. 22 at the Hilton Hotel. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m. Nancy R. Tiner, Secretary
