Getting local Mexican-American high school
seniors interested and informed about college
education is the aim of a meeting scheduled March
10 by a newly formed but unofficial Chicano-
awareness group from Bryan.
The meeting will feature a theater performing
arts group from the University of Texas at Austin
' named "Teatro Chicano" dramatizing Mexican-
American educational problems and needs.
According to Daniel Hernandez, spokesman for
the unofficial "Movimiento Estudiante para el
Advance de la Raza Mexicana," the 7 p.m. skit will
be followed by an open discussion session to interest
those attending in going to college and explaining
why and how to get there.
Hernandez expects between 100 and 200 persons to
attend the meeting 708 S. Bryan St. While aimed
primarily at Mexican-American high school seniors,
Hernandez said the meeting is open to all interested
students.
Songs emphsizing the need for improved Mexican-
American education will be sung and refreshmen
served, Hernandez said.
