NAACP leaders benefit from mediator training... During
March and April, state NAACP (National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People) leaders completed a 40-hour
mediation/negotiation seminar offered by the A&M System. This
professional development experience included skill-building strate-
gies and exercises in communication, listening and identification. It
also involved negotiation and mediation in such situations as
employment, contracts, organizations and community issues.

Roundtable discussions focus on higher education... A&M
System faculty and staff members are invited to participate in a
"Thought Leaders Roundtable" hosted by Daniel Hernandez, asso-
ciate vice chancellor for community development. The roundtable,
entitled "Communicating Across Diverse Constructions of Reality,"
takes place over lunch and invites discussion of issues from global,
integrated and unified perspectives. The roundtable is designed to
"pull back the layers" and get to the real issues that need to be
addressed.
