September 09, 2024, Minutes Staff Present: Andrea Lauer, Business Services Manager; Kimberly McNally,
Historical Records Archivist; Michael Isermann, Assistant Director
Board Present: Carla Elliott, Louis Hodges, Tre Watson, Comer Patterson, Sherry
Frisk, Gerald Burgner, Lisa Mouton, Tom Turbiville Council Members Present:
1. Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
Meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m., no absence requests received. 2. Hear visitors. None
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous meeting.
Upon a motion made by Comer Patterson and seconded by Lou Hodges
the minutes were approved as written.
3.2 A. Cemetery
Sherry Frisk participated in the Texas Historic Commission meeting via
Zoom, they spoke about being cautious when asking people to clean
historic cemetery monuments due to them being destroyed. She is also
meeting with Tony Watson owner of Watson Monuments regarding QR
codes for headstones.
B. Historical Marker Program/Project HOLD Report
No marker applications were submitted. Kimmy is in the process of
uploading Juneteenth pictures into Project HOLD. She is researching how
to upload VHS tapes as well.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series October Lunch Lecture will be WTAW, Carla has 2025 booked through June
of 2025.
D. College Station Pictorial Book Updates
Captions have been entered, just working on editing and design.
E. American Mile
Tom Turbiville is working on possible additions to the blank bricks and
welcomes suggestions. Staff is currently working on getting prices to have
the bricks engraved.

F. Lone Star Legacy Park designation
Sherry and a couple of the members are gathering data for the Brison Park
application which is extensive. She is working on getting the Brison tree recognized as a Heritage Tree. The cost of the application for Lone Star
Legacy Park is $200 which Parks and Recreation Department will cover.
3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining
to the Historic Preservation Board.
Michael Isermann gave an update on Pickleball/Tennis courts.
3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs
9/11 Ceremony Wednesday @ 5:30 @ Veteran’s Park.
4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items.
None.
5. Presentation of historical items
Louis Hodges passed around items.
6. Adjourn.
Upon a motion made by Sherry Frisk and a second by Comer Patterson, the
HPC voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting @ 5:08 p.m.
